Creating stronger support systems for students who need them most.

Every student deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Why we partner with schools

Schools know their students best.

They understand the challenges they face, the support they need and the aspirations they hold for their future.

That is why we work in partnership with schools rather than independently.

By combining the knowledge and care of schools with Happy Brain Education's academic, mentoring and wellbeing programs, we create a stronger support network around every student.

Together, we help students build confidence, stay engaged and believe their goals are within reach.

More than a scholarship

An ecosystem of support

Our partnerships extend beyond providing financial support. We work alongside schools to deliver academic, personal and wellbeing support throughout each student's VCE journey.

Academic support

Access to HBE Academy's premium VCE program, including weekly live online classes, a comprehensive digital learning platform and ongoing academic support.

One-to-one mentoring

A dedicated mentor who provides accountability, encouragement and guidance throughout the year.

Wellbeing support

Workshops focused on resilience, confidence, wellbeing and preparing students for life beyond school.

How we select partner schools

Reaching students who will benefit most

To ensure our Scholarship Program reaches students who will benefit most, we partner with a select number of schools each year.

School selection is primarily informed by the Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage (ICSEA). The national average is 1,000, and our focus is on schools supporting higher proportions of students experiencing educational disadvantage.

We also consider:

  • The number of students from refugee and low socioeconomic backgrounds
  • The level of need within the school community
  • The school's commitment to supporting student participation
  • The potential impact of the partnership

HBE focus: schools below average

We prioritise partnerships with schools supporting students experiencing greater educational disadvantage.

Collaborative partnerships, shared responsibility

To help students gain the greatest benefit from the program, partner schools are asked to:

  • Nominate at least five eligible students

  • Facilitate mentoring sessions during school hours where appropriate
  • Work with HBE to encourage student attendance and engagement throughout the year

Our partnerships are collaborative, with schools and HBE working together to support every scholar.
