Mohammed Yassin, a former refugee from Iraq, has been a living in Australia for 21 years. He is a dedicated community advocate and social innovator in the multicultural and refugee settlement sectors. Mohammed became DUX of his school two years after arriving in Australia and pursued Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne, where he later worked in the field of cancer research.

Over the past decade, Mohammed has been an active advocate for migrant and refugee communities. His notable roles include being appointed as a Commissioner on the Victorian Multicultural Commission, serving as a board member of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, Meals with Impact, and the Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project. He is also a current member of the Australian Refugee Advisory Panel. 

Mohammed has founded several social enterprises, such as Culture & Co, which delivers training and consulting services to government, non-profit, and corporate sectors. Their anti-racism leadership program for primary schools won the 2022 Victorian Multicultural Excellence Awards in the Education category. Additionally, he co-founded Value Nation, a business development agency that provides entrepreneurship training to refugees.
