Impactful Stories

Hear from our mentees

Mentoring has been such a big part of my growth. It honestly feels like having an older sister guiding me through everything. My mentor’s shown me how to create realistic timetables, how to study in a way that works for each subject, and which strategies actually help me stay on track. She’s always there with advice, whether it’s for managing stress or preparing for a big assessment.

My mentoring session has helped me to be able to create a healthy and balanced relationship between my personal life and academics, where I am able to put in effort and realise my full potential to achieve high in my academics, but also not to the point where I'm burning out or am unable to enjoy the smaller more fun and exciting things about being in Year 12 :)

This year, as a Year 12 student, I faced a lot of external and internal obstacles towards my learning. I'm proud that I've been able to bounce back from burning out and stress. It's one thing I've learnt since I've started with HBE and the sessions with wellbeing and my mentor that had taught me how to.

I’m proud of being able to connect with people from different schools and universities. Listening to their advice and learning from their experiences has been really valuable.
